Sturgeon Point Lighthouse

On my recent trip to Alpena for a visit to the New Presque Isle Light Station, I had time to stop by the Sturgeon Point Lighthouse. The light tower is in the process of being transferred from the Federal government to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Temporary patching has been placed on the roof near the chimney. The DNR is planning on replacing the roof in the near future. Other maintenance items at the building are ongoing and are being addressed by the Alcona Historical Society. http://www.alconahistoricalsociety.com/
